Dance for Parkinson's Disease is an initiative by Hrishikesh Centre of Contemporary Dance started in 2008 in association with the Sancheti Institute for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. The program started with 3 patients from the Parkinson's Mitra Mandal and now being conducted in Pune, Mumbai and Delhi. Dance for Parkinson's Disease aims at creating a rehabilitation program within the education of contemporary dance. The class that is conducted thrice a week starts with Basic Exercises and then followed by Kathak Bol, Mudra and Dance Choreography. The module combines voice and movements together helping the participants once again gain control on their lost movement and speech. The film - Dance for Parkinson's Disease by Tapan Pandit explores in depth the initiative of Hrishikesh Centre and the change in lifestyle the program brings in for the participants. It also documents the structure of the Dance for Parkinson's module. At the same time the film looks closely at the social changes and impact on the family the later initiates. The protagonist of the film is Birsa, whose eyes are the point of view of the film. He is a mental patient, whose only friend is a mysterious old man named Kumar John, with both of them staying in an asylum that houses more than 2000 of them, while employing just 40 workers. Furthermore, it seems that something strange has been happening in the place, as patients frequently disappear, in a series of events that involve a mysterious entity that everyone seems to be afraid of, and is called Rakkhosh (demon).
